Last week, I was invited to Rochester, NY for the Teen Book Festival. What an awesome event!
The festival was held on the campus of Nazareth college and we were driven into the school on a 1949 Flexible Clipper Bus.
There were a lot of authors and several illustrators at the festival. I look forward to reading books by many of the amazing authors at TBF, including Charles Benoit, Heather Brewer and Kathleen Duey.
After the opening ceremony, each author had their own “break-out” session. We gave 3 presentations during the day so the teens could attend several different programs. There 20-30 kids in each of my sessions and I really enjoyed meeting fans of the Warriors manga.
My teen volunteers were very helpful. Thanks to them and librarian, Amy Holiday!
The authors, librarians and volunteers were treated to dinner at Artisan Works. What a cool place! If you’re ever in Rochester check it out.
We also stayed at the Woodcliff Hotel. It had an awesome hiking trail and I enjoyed my time outdoors. Living in NYC, I don’t get outside like this too often. Took lots of photos for reference.
Thanks to all the volunteers, librarians, and especially Stephanie A. Squicciarini for putting together such a great event.
